Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath delivered a strong message against what he termed the “glorification of foreign invaders,” asserting that such distortions in history reflect a mindset rooted in slavery. Speaking at the inauguration of the General Bipin Rawat Auditorium and unveiling of his statue at Sainik School, Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of preserving India’s civilisational identity.
The official statement released by the CM Office reiterated his remarks:
“A foreign invader can never be great for us. Those who have tampered with history to glorify such invaders suffer from a mindset of slavery. We must completely reject this mentality.”
His comments underline the state government’s consistent stand on reclaiming historical narratives and celebrating national heroes who contributed to India’s cultural and military heritage.

The occasion was particularly significant as it honoured General Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, who has remained a symbol of courage, discipline, and strategic leadership. The newly inaugurated auditorium aims to inspire students to follow the values that General Rawat embodied throughout his service.
Focus on National Pride and Historical Integrity
The Chief Minister’s address drew attention to the wider discourse on rewriting historical narratives accurately and removing glorification of past invaders who caused destruction in the subcontinent.
He stressed that future generations must be taught to take pride in national icons rather than be influenced by distorted interpretations of history.
Strengthening Values Through Institutions
With the unveiling ceremony held at Sainik School Gorakhpur, the message resonated strongly with the young cadets. Yogi Adityanath highlighted that institutions like Sainik Schools play a crucial role in shaping patriotic citizens, capable of protecting the nation with honour and integrity.
