Bhagwant Mann: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a cross-border narco smuggling cartel and arrested three drug smugglers involved in heroin and illegal arms trafficking. Acting on forward and backward linkages, the police recovered 4.5 kilograms of heroin and one pistol from the accused.

According to the Punjab Police, preliminary investigations reveal that the arrested individuals were in contact with a foreign-based handler through social media platforms. The handler allegedly directed them to transport and supply consignments of heroin and illegal weapons across multiple locations in Punjab.
An official statement issued by the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab Police, confirmed that an FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and Arms Act at Police Station Gate Hakima in Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to trace the entire network and identify other operatives linked to the cartel.
Punjab Police stated that the operation is part of its sustained campaign to dismantle narco-terror and drug syndicates operating in the border state. “The force remains firm in its resolve to eliminate drugs and break the backbone of organised drug trafficking networks in Punjab,” the statement said.
