Chattisgarh Viral Video: A young man in Raipur, the capital of Chattisgarh, can be seen in a video literally carrying his complaint to the Municipal Corporation’s office.

The youth after being bitten by mosquitoes in Vamanrao Lakhe ward in Raipur killed the insects and packed them before marching straight into the Raipur Municipal Corporation office to make his point.

What’s the Chattisgarh Viral Video All About?

The man, Daulal Patel, remarked he feared the mosquitoes that bit him could be carriers of dengue. He first consulted a doctor who told him to get the mosquitoes tested. Patel was accompanied by social activist Vijay Sona and the municipal corporation’s leader of the opposition Akash Tiwari. He presented the dead mosquitoes securely sealed in a polythene bag to the health officer at the civic body headquarters.

Municipal Corporation’s officials promptly contacted doctors and arranged testing to allay fears. The report, however, brought some relief to Patel as the mosquitoes were ordinary and not carriers of dengue. Akash Tiwari said the incident exposed the complete failure of the mosquito control system in the city. He went on to add that the reality was “far more frightening than the slogans.”

According to local residents, the menace of mosquitoes has reached alarming levels with people living in a constant fear of dengue and malaria. It was recalled by locals that a young man from the same locality died a few years back after a mosquito bite. Activist Vijay Sona said he had repeatedly complained to civic officials about mosquito breeding near his house, but no action was taken. He claimed that a family member had already their life because of mosquito-borne illness.

Raipur Municipal Corporation officials said fogging and anti-larval spraying would be intensified in the affected areas. But, residents remain sceptical and pointed out that mosquito control, open drains and poor drainage continue to provide perfect breeding grounds despite crores of rupees being spent.
