BMC Elections 2026: NDA Wins Big Time in Maharashtra Local Polls, Has the Marathi Manoos Turned Back to NDA? Will Momentum Stay?

BMC Elections 2026: The Mahayuti alliance of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar won local body polls.

BMC Elections 2026: The Mahayuti alliance of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar has swept the elections to 288 municipal councils and nagar panchayats by winning 207 posts of presidents of local bodies.

On Sunday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) restricted the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi to a collective tally of 44.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked the results reflect public confidence in the BJP’s development agenda. He thanked voters and party workers for the big win.

BMC Elections 2026: Who Won How Much?

According to the State Election Commission, the BJP won 117 posts of municipal presidents, Shiv Sena won 53, and the NCP won 37 posts.  On the other hand, the Congress bagged 28, the NCP (SP) seven and Shiv Sena (UBT) nine.

Twenty-eight seats of municipal presidents went to unrecognized registered parties while five seats were won by independents.

State Congress chief Harsh Vardhan Sapkal said the BJP’s success is a wake-up call for Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as now it will expel these two allies.

BMC Elections 2026: Will Momentum Stay?

The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar have successfully managed to retain thr trust of voters across the state. The same is expected to help the NDA win the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in 2026.
