Akhilesh Yadav: Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav turned Yogi Adityanath’s “do namune” jibe into a ‘gotcha’ moment.
Yadav claimed that the statement by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was a self-goal that exposed the alleged rift within the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).
Adityanath took potshots at opposition leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi amid the political slugfest over the codeine-based cough syrup racket.
What did Adityanath referred to Akhilesh Yadav as?
Adityanath referred to Rahul and Akhilesh as namune (specimen) while speaking in the state assembly.
“Desh ke andar do namune hain (There are two specimens in the country). One sits in Delhi and the other in Lucknow.” Adityanath had also remarked they immediately flee the country when there is any discussion on any issue.
In a post on X, Yadav said Yogi’s remark appeared less like an attack on the Opposition and more like an admission of infighting within the ruling party. The SP Supremo added Adityanath was taking a jab at a sore point; for months, there has been speculation that all is not well between the UP Chief Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Aatma-sweekriti (Self-own),” he tweeted. “No one expected the Delhi-Lucknow feud to escalate to this point. People holding constitutional posts should at least maintain some public decorum among themselves and not cross the bounds of propriety. BJP folks should not bring their party’s internal squabbles out to the crossroads. If someone takes offence somewhere, you might have to backtrack.”
