Tears and tributes flowed as Prateek Yadav, the 38-year-old son of late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, was cremated in Lucknow, with his wife Aparna Yadav and brother-in-law Akhilesh Yadav leading a visibly shaken family through the last rites. Prateek’s body was taken to Baikunth Dham in Lucknow for the last rites, which were performed amidst a sea of mourners and tight security. Aparna Yadav, the BJP leader and vice-chairperson of the state women’s commission, was seen in tears with their daughter, while Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav stood in silent grief beside her, putting the cross-party personal bond within the family on display. Medical Necessity and Autopsy Results
The postmortem report said Prateek died of a massive pulmonary thromboembolism, where a large blood clot blocked blood flow to the lungs, resulting in cardio-respiratory collapse. Samples of the heart, clot-like material and viscera were preserved for extensive histopathological and chemical studies by doctors to identify the exact origin and underlying reasons for the clot. This has led to a need for better early diagnosis protocols and public awareness of silent risks such as unexplained injuries and recurring chest problems that allegedly marked Prateek’s last days.
