MP News: The Government of Madhya Pradesh will introduce a comprehensive overhaul for more than 6.5 lakh state employees starting January 1, 2026.
MP News: What is Getting Changed?
The Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 2025 will replace the long-standing Madhya Pradesh Leave Rules 1977, marking the first major revision for the state employees in nearly 50 years.
What are the big changes?
One of the biggest changes under the new law relates to earned leave. Going forward, it will now be credited in advance instead of completing one year in advance. Employees will now receive 15 days of earned leave on January 1 and another 15 days of earned leave on July 15.
In contrast, new recruits to the state government staff will receive earned leaves on a proportional basis from their joining date. On the other hand, government teachers and professors, who were earlier excluded because of summer vacations, will now get 10 days of earned leave annually.
Under the new rules, a special medical leave of up to two years for employees injured under official duty will also be provided. It will be granted only on medical recommendation and cannot be adjusted against regular leave balances.
Other changes include allowing conversion of Casual Leave into Medical Leave, clearer leave entitlements for probationers and trainees, and revised pay rules for Child Care Leave. The framework is more gender-neutral, which extends provisions to single fathers and cases involving surrogacy.
