Rajasthan News: The education department in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district has issued a stern warning to private schools against compelling students to dress as Santa Claus during Christmas celebrations.
What’s The Reasoning Behind This Rajasthan News?
An order issued on December 22 by additional district education officer Ashok Wadhwa remarked that strict action will be taken against private schools if any complaint in this regard is filed.
Wadhwa added schools must not put any kind of unnecessary pressure on parents or students to participate in such activities.
What’s The Exception To This Rajasthan News?
The additional district education officer said there is no objection if any activity related to the festival is organized with the consent of children and parents.
Wadhwa remarked December 25 is also observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas. The officer added schools should maintain balance and sensitivity in their programs without any coercion.
What Led To The Order?
A representation was made by the Bharat-Tibet Sahyog Manch to the district education authorities that some schools have been compelling young children to dress up as Santa Claus, causing resentment among parents and families.
The organization said Sriganganagar is predominantly a Hindu-Sikh majority area and no specific tradition should be imposed.
