Border 2: ‘Sab Bolte Hain Suniel Shetty Ka Beta Hai…’ Actor Fails To Control His Tears, Recalls Son Ahan Shetty’s Career Struggle – WATCH

Suniel Shetty breaks down while talking about son Ahan Shetty’s struggle after Tadap and his big second chance with Border 2. Check video!

At Sunny Deol‘s Border 2 song launch event, Actor Suniel Shetty became emotional while speaking about his son Ahan Shetty’s journey in Bollywood. He opened up about the challenges Ahan faced after his debut film Tadap failed to make a mark at the box office. While unveiling the 3rd song, “Jaate Hue Lamhon” from Border 2, Suniel could not hold back tears as he talked about his son.

Here’s What Suniel Shetty Said At Border 2 Song Launch Event

Suniel got emotional and said, “It is his second film aur itni badi film milna… Bahut hi responsible film hai. When Ahan was doing the film, maine tabhi unse kaha tha ke – Ahan, it is not just uniform. Remember this.”

Suniel also reflected on the setback Ahan faced after Tadap. He added, “After his first film, there was a little break in (his life and career). You know, there’s always turmoil in our lives. Sab bolte hain ke Suniel Shetty ka beta hai, kaam toh bahut hi milta hai. But somewhere or the other, there’s a lot that Ahan went through in life. But I am happy that he got Border 2 as his second film. Usse badiya film nahi mil sakti. And I just pray that he has done justice and the film works for all of us.”

Ahan Shetty’s Early Struggles

Ahan made his Bollywood debut in December 2021 with Tadap, an action-romance directed by Milan Luthria. The film earned around Rs 4.05 crore on opening day and a lifetime gross of approximately Rs 34.86 crore worldwide. While these numbers were decent, the film fell short of expectations compared to its Rs 27 crore budget and was deemed a box office average.

The release timing also worked against Ahan. Many theatres were still partially closed or restricted due to post-pandemic rules. Critics also felt the film relied on dated 80s-style tropes and audiences preferred the original Telugu version, RX 100.

There were also reports that Ahan lost projects due to his entourage costs. Addressing this, Ahan said, “I know there were articles written about me, saying that my entourage cost was high and that’s why certain films didn’t happen and none of that was true. I knew that, people close to me knew that and my producers knew that too. But you just have to be thick-skinned in this industry… You learn from it and move on.”

About Border 2 And Ahan Shetty’s Role

In Border 2, Ahan Shetty plays Lt Cdr Joseph Noronha, a brave Indian Navy officer. The film expands the original story, showing the Navy alongside the Army and Air Force. This makes it different from the 1997 Border, which focused mainly on ground forces.

The film stars Sunny Deol reprising his role as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, with Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya and Diljit Dosanjh as Fg Offr Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. Ahan is paired opposite Anya Singh, who plays his wife Teresa Noronha. Other key cast members include Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa and Medha Rana.

Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, Border 2 is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026, during the Republic Day weekend.
