The financial assistance is transferred directly to beneficiaries to ensure transparency and timely utilization of funds.
Phase 2 to Expand Housing Coverage for the Urban Poor
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana aims to ensure that every poor family—whether in urban or rural areas—has access to a permanent home. With the launch of PMAY Urban 2.0, several changes have been introduced to expand coverage and include more eligible households.
Officials said that Phase 2 of the scheme will enable housing benefits to reach a much larger number of poor families, particularly those who were previously left out under earlier guidelines.
Total Assistance of ₹2.5 Lakh in Three Installments

- ₹1 lakh as the second installment
- ₹50,000 as the final installment
The remaining amount is adjusted as per scheme guidelines to support completion of the housing unit.
