Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday welcomed the inclusion of Patna Bird Sanctuary in Etah district as a Ramsar Site, calling it a significant milestone in India’s growing commitment to environmental conservation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a message shared on social media, the Chief Minister said that India’s efforts towards protecting wetlands and biodiversity continue to receive global recognition. He noted that the Ramsar designation reflects a balanced journey of policy, protection, and preservation, where ecological sustainability and development move forward together.

Highlighting the importance of wetlands in maintaining ecological balance, Yogi Adityanath stated that the recognition of Patna Bird Sanctuary, along with Chhari-Dhand in Kutch, Gujarat, underscores the country’s resolve towards sustainable environmental stewardship. He emphasized that wetlands play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and supporting local livelihoods.

The Chief Minister credited the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing environmental conservation at the national level. He said that focused policies and coordinated efforts have strengthened India’s global standing in protecting natural ecosystems while ensuring inclusive development.

Yogi Adityanath further expressed pride in the achievement for Uttar Pradesh and congratulated the people of Etah district. He also acknowledged the efforts of forest officials, conservationists, and all stakeholders who have worked consistently for the protection and preservation of wetlands in the region.

The Ramsar recognition, he said, will not only enhance conservation efforts but also promote eco-tourism and environmental awareness, benefiting local communities while safeguarding biodiversity for future generations.
