Bhagwant Mann Bust Cross-Border Drug Smuggling Module, 5 Kg Heroin Seized in Amritsar

The force has intensified surveillance along border areas and continues to strengthen counter-intelligence mechanisms to curb the inflow of drugs from across the border.

Bhagwant Mann: In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics trafficking, Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, in an intelligence-led operation, busted an international drug smuggling module and arrested four persons from Village Daoke under Police Station Gharinda in Amritsar district. The police recovered 5 kilograms of heroin from the accused.

According to DGP Punjab Police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested individuals have direct links with a Pakistan-based drug smuggler, indicating a well-organised cross-border network operating to push narcotics into Punjab.

Bhagwant Mann: FIR Registered, Probe into Entire Network Underway

An FIR has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar, and specialised teams have been deployed to investigate both forward and backward linkages of the smuggling syndicate. Authorities are examining financial trails, communication records, and possible involvement of other associates to dismantle the entire supply chain.

Security agencies have further intensified border surveillance in sensitive areas of Amritsar, with increased coordination between Counter Intelligence units, district police, and central security agencies.

Investigators are analysing digital evidence, financial transactions, and cross-border communication links to identify other members of the network.

Police sources confirmed that efforts are underway to determine whether the accused were part of a larger syndicate operating across multiple districts or acting as couriers for international smugglers.

Senior police officials stated that the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs, reflecting the growing emphasis on precision-based policing and coordinated intelligence sharing among security agencies.

Strong Message to Drug Syndicates

Punjab Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and organised crime. The force has intensified surveillance along border areas and continues to strengthen counter-intelligence mechanisms to curb the inflow of drugs from across the border.

“Punjab Police remains fully committed to dismantling cross-border drug trafficking networks and ensuring a drug-free Punjab,” the DGP said, adding that strict action will be taken against all those involved, irrespective of their role in the network.
