Bhagwant Mann: Statewide enforcement action

According to police data, raids were conducted at 388 locations across Punjab. Authorities recovered 8.03 kg heroin, 500 grams opium, 617 intoxicant tablets or capsules, and ₹1.27 lakh in suspected drug money, highlighting what officials described as a sustained crackdown on trafficking networks.

Role of specialised units

The operation was carried out with support from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Punjab, which has been leading targeted intelligence-based actions against supply chains and distribution channels. Officials said coordinated field operations and surveillance have strengthened enforcement efficiency.

Rehabilitation focus
Police also stated that 46 individuals were counselled and motivated for de-addiction and rehabilitation, underlining that the campaign combines enforcement with preventive and recovery measures aimed at reducing drug dependency.

Cumulative figures
Authorities reported that since the start of the campaign, 49,436 alleged drug smugglers have been arrested statewide. Officials described the figures as evidence of consistent action against narcotics-related crime.

Policy backdrop
The anti-drug drive forms part of the broader law-and-order and social reform agenda highlighted by the administration led by Bhagwant Mann, which has repeatedly emphasized eliminating narcotics networks and protecting youth from substance abuse.

Outlook
Security analysts note that sustained enforcement, combined with rehabilitation efforts and community awareness, will be crucial in determining the long-term impact of the campaign on drug supply and consumption patterns in the state.
