In Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari says the iconic line – “Ghayal hoon, isiliye ghatak hoon.” It has become one of the film’s most talked-about moments. The punchy dialogue has sparked intense debate online. Many fans believe it pays tribute to Sunny Deol and the legacy of his iconic films Ghayal and Ghatak.
Now, Sunny Deol himself has addressed the chatter, and his response has only added to the buzz.
Will Sunny Deol Charge Royalty From Dhurandhar Makers?
During a recent interaction with ANI, Sunny Deol was jokingly asked if he would consider charging royalty for the now-viral dialogue. He said, “Humare jo director hai, (Aditya Dhar) he’s a great fan. Unhone meri picturein dekhi hai aur I think unhone Ghayal aur Ghatak yeh sab filmein dekhi hai toh just for the respect, they’ve used the dialogue, the title, which is very sweet (Our director is a big fan. He has watched my films, and I think he has seen Ghayal and Ghatak. So, out of respect, they used the dialogue and the title, which is very sweet).”

In Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh delivers the line at a crucial turning point. His character (Hamza Ali Mazari) transitions from an undercover operative to a relentless force seeking revenge. The scene unfolds in Karachi’s Lyari district, where Hamza has been quietly working at a restaurant while infiltrating a crime syndicate.
DON'T MISS
With long hair, a thick beard, and a cigarette in hand, Ranveer’s screen presence turns raw and menacing. The dialogue lands with impact, capturing both emotional pain and lethal resolve. As a result, audiences instantly connected with the moment.
Soon after the film’s release, social media platforms were flooded with comparisons to Sunny Deol’s larger-than-life action persona. Many users called the line a “clever nod” to the actor’s filmography.
Dhurandhar Vs Border 2
The conversation around the dialogue comes amid Dhurandhar’s extraordinary box-office run. The film reportedly crossed a staggering Rs 10,000 crore in India, placing it among the highest-grossing Indian films ever.
Interestingly, the film’s dominance appears to have affected the performance of Sunny Deol’s Border 2. The much-awaited sequel to JP Dutta’s war classic was released on January 23 ahead of Republic Day 2026. While the film opened strong, trade analysts noted that Dhurandhar continued to command attention at ticket windows.
Despite the competition, Border 2 maintained steady collections before slowing in its second week. The film has reportedly earned Rs 318.55 crore so far. Industry insiders suggest that without the overwhelming Dhurandhar wave, the war drama might have achieved even higher numbers.
Meanwhile, excitement is already building for the sequel to Dhurandhar, scheduled to hit theatres on March 19.
Sunny Deol Upcoming Project
On the work front, Sunny Deol is gearing up for his next big-screen appearance in Lahore 1947, backed by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The period drama also stars Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi.
The film is eyeing an Independence Day release. Reports also indicate that the project may undergo a title change, though an official confirmation is still awaited.
