Cabinet Approves Noida Metro Extension from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden
The proposed elevated corridor will feature eight stations and, once operational, will expand the combined Noida–Greater Noida metro network to about 61.62 km. Officials said the project is aimed at strengthening urban mobility and supporting the region’s rapidly growing residential and commercial hubs.
The project is also being projected as an environmentally beneficial initiative
According to government statements, the extension will provide a direct interchange at Botanical Garden with existing metro corridors, improving connectivity for commuters traveling toward Delhi and other NCR areas. Authorities noted that the integration is expected to ease traffic congestion, shorten travel time, and make daily commuting more efficient.
The project is also being projected as an environmentally beneficial initiative, as improved public transport infrastructure typically reduces reliance on private vehicles and lowers emissions. Officials added that better connectivity between corporate centres, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and residential zones could stimulate economic activity and urban development.
Sources said the corridor is part of a broader strategy to expand mass rapid transit systems in fast-growing urban regions, ensuring sustainable infrastructure that can support population growth and future expansion needs. Further implementation timelines and construction phases are expected to be announced after completion of detailed planning and approvals.
