Donald Trump: US Prez’s Trade Leverage Crumbles! Will SC Snub Push President To Slap Extra Tariffs On Indian Exports?

Donald Trump: In a message on Truth Social, Trump remarked that any nation of the world that wants to 'play games' with the ridiculous decision of the US Supreme Court, especially those that have ripped off the country for decades would notice a much higher tariff. Without naming India, Trump remarked this includes countries with which the USA has entered into deals.

Donald Trump: The Supreme Court of the United States weakened President Trump’s ability to impose his “unjustified, favourite” economic tariffs on other countries. The SC judgement has significantly diminished the trade leverage of Donald Trump against countries such as India and Brazil. Interestingly, India and Indian PM Narendra Modi that were once the favourites of Trump have gone under the hammer now. This was after India refused to lie down repeatedly against the lies of the US President that he helped with the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

Donald Trump: The Court Snub, A Revengeful Leader?

After the SC snub, Donald Trump has been making comments that depicts that he feels like his powers have been belittled” by the US Supreme Court. Trump swiftly announced a global levy of 10 percent on imports. A day later, it was raised to 15 percent. However, this levy could last for only a period of 150 days.

Did Trump Post A Recent Message Only For India?

In a message on Truth Social, Trump remarked that any nation of the world that wants to ‘play games’ with the ridiculous decision of the US Supreme Court, especially those that have ripped off the country for decades would notice a much higher tariff. Without naming India, Trump remarked this includes countries with which the USA has entered into deals.

This could be a possible reaction to the postponement or cancellation of a planned visit of the Indian trade delegation to finalize the interim trade deal’s terms. According to industry experts, this move by India is more of a calculated pause and not a withdrawal from the US India trade deal.

In another development, Neal Katyal, the Indian-American lead attorney, has remarked that the win over US President’s power to impose irrational tariffs is nothing but a landslide victory.

Katyal went on to add that the new global tariffs of 15 percent imposed by Trump under a series of provisions would face additional legal challenges as they stand on shaky legal grounds.
