Pimple Treatment: For most of us, especially teenagers, getting rid of stubborn pimples that just won’t quit could be a challenging task. No wonder, pimples feel and act like uninvited guests who overstay their welcome. However, pimples are more than just a skin problem. They could be about bacterial growth, excess oil, clogged pores, sneaky hormones and inflammation.

Note: Quick fixes like popping or harsh scrubs only make things worse and should always be avoided. This is simply because they could trap bacteria deeper while also damaging skin barriers.

Pimple Treatment-The Simple Morning Routine

Start your day by washing your face with a water-based, gentle water-based cleanser. Try something mild such as Cetaphil or a homemade honey wash and please say goodbye to foamy and sudsy soaps as they strip your body’s natural oils.

Once you have washed your face, pat it dry and avoid rubbing. Then, try layering on a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer followed by broad-spectrum sunscreen (at least SPF 30+). If you have oily skin, choose ones gel-based versions.

Protect And Repair Your Skin Barrier During Night

Make it a point to double cleanse your face at night by using an oil-based cleanser (such as micellar water or cleansing balm). This would help in melting away makeup, sunscreen and city dust. Follow it with a gentle water-based wash. Avoid harsh astringents, scrubs or over-washing as they could inflame skin pores like sandpaper on a fresh cut.

Hands Off: The Golden Rule Against Popping

This may be the easiest thing to hear but the most difficult thing to follow. STOP touching your face as your hands could be bacteria highways.

Hygiene Hacks

Pimples tend to love dirty hideouts. Clean your pillowcases every week and sanitize your phone screen with alcohol wipes. Switch to satin or silk pillowcases as they glide against skin.

Cut Down On Unhealthy Food

Say goodbye to ultra-processed, junk, sugary and oily foods as they spike insulin, feeding bad bacteria. Also, focus on consuming 3-4 litres of water every day to flush toxins and consume zinc-rich foods (pumpkin seeds, lentils and chickpeas) and fibre (oats and seasonal vegetables).

Exercise For Glowing Skin

Exercise boosts circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to skin cells while detoxing through pores. It also helps in reducing stress hormones (cortisol), a major pimple culprit. Aim for yoga exercises, brisk walks or dance workouts for at least 30 minutes every day. Post-sweat, don’t forget to wash your face gently with a water-based cleanser.
