US Israel Iran War: United States President Donald Trump has announced that a five-day ceasefire has been reached with Iran under which the joint forces of Israel and the United States would not attack Iranian energy infrastructure for five days.

The news delighted global stock markets. The US stock futures jumped with contracts tied to the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 2.5 percent. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield that had seen a jump above 4.4 percent earlier retreated sharply after the news emerged.

For the first time in several weeks, Brent crude futures fell more than 10 percent to dip below $100 a barrel. The European Stoxx 600 Index gained around 1 percent after being more than 1.5 percent lower earlier. Bitcoin saw a jump of around 4 percent as did other cryptocurrencies.
Trump announced that productive conversations with Tehran have resulted in a temporary halt to strikes on the energy infrastructure in Iran.
Previously, the Islamic Republic of Iran had threatened to close down the Strait of Hormuz completely. Tehran also had warned the world that it could hit power plants across the Middle East region after Trump threatened to “obliterate” Iran’s power network unless the Strait of Hormuz is opened.
Previously, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent remarked that “all options are on the table” in the context of Kharg Island, including sending troops of the United States Of America to secure the vital oil production hub in Iran.
Till now, more than 2500 people have been killed across a series of aerial attacks in the Middle East as the US Israel Iran war enters its fourth week. In Lebanon alone, more than 1000 people have been killed while 13 US service members, 15 individuals have died in Israel and 2 more have died because of non-combat causes.
