Artificial Intelligence: Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, has announced the launch of a series of significant initiatives to strengthen the Indian broadcasting, digital content creation and media environment.
The initiatives include the introduction of MyWAVES, National AI Skilling Initiative and the inclusion of built-in satellite tuners with advanced electronic program guide in television sets.

The initiatives announced by Ashwini Vaishnaw would help the country’s “Orange Economy” develop to the fullest. It would also help in improving content availability and empowering content creators of the country.

Series Of Initiatives
The National AI Skilling Initiative has been introduced in association with YouTube and Google via the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies. Under the initiative, more than 15000 youth would receive training in digital media and artificial intelligence, free of charge. Phase 1 of training runs until June and would emphasize on foundational AI learning while Phase 2 from July to December would focus on hands-on specialization via tools like Vertex AI, Veo and Gemini.
MyWAVES, the second initiative, is an out-of-the-box digital platform that would help Indians create, upload and share informative and valuable content, developing a vibrant and state-of-the-art digital ecosystem. MyWAVES would act as a user-generated, structured content offering to support vertical videos, short videos and episodic formats in a wide range of Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam
The Ministry announced the Creator’s Corner would air after launch on DD News from Mondays to Fridays, featuring 4-6 reels or videos per episode. It would slowly and steadily expand across other Doordarshan channels.
The third initiative would focus on enhancing access to public broadcasting. The advanced program guide in television sets and built-in satellite tuners would help people, especially those in rural areas, easily access the wide range of services offered by DD Free Dish without installing a separate set-top box.
