Highlighting the growing strength of the agriculture sector, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday said that farmers’ hard work continues to drive the state’s economic progress, positioning it among the top agricultural performers in the country.
According to official data shared by the state government, Madhya Pradesh has secured the first position in pulses (dalhan) production nationwide, reflecting its strong cultivation base and favorable agro-climatic conditions. The state has also achieved second place in overall foodgrain production, further underlining its key role in ensuring national food security.
Mohan Yadav: Strong Performance Across Key Crops
The government highlighted that Madhya Pradesh ranks second in the country in oilseeds, wheat, and gram (chana) production, indicating consistent growth across multiple crop categories. In addition, the state holds the second position in the production of coarse grains (millets or ‘Shri Anna’), which are increasingly being promoted for their nutritional and climate-resilient benefits.
Madhya Pradesh has also secured the third position in groundnut production, showcasing diversification in its agricultural output and expanding opportunities for farmers.
Farmers at the Core of Growth
Officials emphasized that these achievements are a result of sustained policy support, improved irrigation facilities, and the adoption of modern agricultural practices by farmers. The state government has been focusing on providing better seeds, fertilizers, and market access, along with timely procurement and minimum support price (MSP) benefits.
The Chief Minister reiterated that strengthening the agriculture sector remains a priority, with continued efforts to enhance farmers’ income and ensure sustainable growth. The progress made by Madhya Pradesh not only boosts the state’s economy but also contributes significantly to the country’s overall agricultural output.
