Aamir Khan has made a surprising move for his upcoming production Ek Din. The advance booking for the film has opened nearly 39 days before its release. This is unusual, as most films start ticket sales only a few days in advance. The early rollout has caught both fans and trade experts off guard.
The film is also an important project for Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan. After a disappointing debut with Loveyapa, which earned only around Rs 6.85 crore in India against a much bigger budget, all eyes are now on his next release. Ek Din is seen as a crucial film that could decide his early career path in Bollywood.
Aamir Khan Opens Ek Din Ek Din Advance Booking In 20 Cities Across India
The early ticket sales began on March 23, when users noticed bookings were already live on apps. At first, many thought it was a technical glitch. But it was later confirmed that this was a planned strategy.
DON'T MISS
According to reports, Ek Din advance booking is now active in nearly 20 cities across India. However, most cinemas have opened only one show per location, keeping the rollout limited.
Delhi-NCR leads with 24 screens, followed by Mumbai with 11 screens. Cities like Chandigarh and Pune have three screens each. Smaller centres such as Jaipur, Indore, Patna, Surat and Guwahati have at least one screening.
While the scale is small, the early response is steady rather than explosive.
Ek Din Advance Booking Shows Early Audience Curiosity
Even without heavy promotions, Ek Din has started generating interest. Trade reports suggest that more than 520 tickets have already been sold across the country.
Some cities have shown stronger early numbers. Raipur leads with 46 tickets sold. Ahmedabad follows with 37 tickets, while Gorakhpur has recorded 18. In major hubs like Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, several theatres have sold around 20 tickets each.
The film is expected to appeal more to urban audiences and multiplex viewers. Still, the early numbers suggest that curiosity is building slowly.
Can Aamir Khan Bring Junaid His ‘First Box Office Success’?
Ek Din is produced by Aamir Khan, who is known for taking experimental decisions in film releases. Opening advance booking 39 days early appears to be another such unusual strategy.
The film stars Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. It is also reported to be a remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day. Aamir Khan has described it as a “classic love story” and revealed that he originally wanted it to launch Junaid’s career.
He also stayed closely involved in the project and even suggested changes to the climax during production. Despite this strong backing, the big question remains whether Ek Din will finally help Junaid Khan secure his first box office success after a weak start.
