Peyush Bansal: “Hijab Allowed, Tilak And Bindi A No No!”, Shark Tank Star Defends Uniform And Grooming Guide

Peyush Bansal: Shefali went on to post on X she is surprised that a company like Lenskart would have such a stupid and blatantly discriminatory style document in place as a policy for even a day in a Hindu majority country, where majority of the customers are Hindus.

Peyush Bansal: Massive social media controversy has erupted after a purported excerpt from the Uniform and Grooming Guide of popular eyewear company Lenskart went viral.

The document claimed restrictions on specific religious symbols of the Hindu culture like tilak, kalawa and bindi while allowing forms of expression for other religious like Muslim culture’s hijab. This prompted co-founder and CEO of Lenskart Peyush Bansal to issue a clarification.

Peyush Bansal-How The Controversy Erupted?

The controversy erupted after writer Shefali Vaidya shared a screenshot. She alleged that the internal grooming guidelines of the company treated religious symbols differently.

Soon, the allegations transformed into a wider debate, with many users criticizing the hypocrisy of organizations such as Lenskart. Many users even threatened to boycott Lenskart and remarked that any perceived restriction on religious expressions may alienate a huge section of consumers.

Peyush Bansal’s Response

Responding to the controversy, Bansal posted on X that was viral document was not a true and complete representative of Lenskart’s present stance. Bansal went on to add that the Uniform and Grooming Guide of Lenskart has no restrictions whatsoever on any form of religious expression, including tilak or bindi.

Interestingly, Peyush Bansal Has Not Denied that the Uniform and Grooming Guide restricting Hindu religious symbols was NEVER IN PLACE. This clearly suggests that the policy was indeed practiced and may have stopped only recently.

Vaidya’s Response To Peyush Bansal

Shefali Vaidya responded to the post by Peyush Bansal by saying that the explanation by the Shark Tank star makes no sense whatsoever as the document is from February 2026. Vaidya asked Bansal to share the current guidelines if the “biased and hypocrite” document didn’t reflected the current stance of Lenskart.

Shefali went on to post on X she  is surprised that a company like Lenskart would have such a stupid and blatantly discriminatory style document in place as a policy for even a day in a Hindu majority country, where majority of the customers are Hindus.
