Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has issued an advisory to young people, warning against the growing trend of performing dangerous stunts and taking life-threatening selfies for social media attention.
In a message addressed to “dear children,” the Chief Minister expressed concern that many youths are risking their lives for likes, views, and followers, engaging in activities such as high-speed bike and car stunts, filming videos on railway tracks, hanging from train doors, and taking selfies at risky locations like buildings, rivers, bridges, and water tanks.

He emphasized that such actions are not only dangerous for individuals but can also devastate families, noting that frequent accidents serve as evidence of the risks involved. He urged young people to understand the difference between ‘reel’ and ‘real’ life, and not to gamble their lives for temporary online popularity.
Concerns over digital behaviour
Yogi Adityanath also pointed out that factors such as loneliness, negative emotions, the urge to stand out, and excessive screen time are contributing to such risky behaviour. He highlighted the impact of online trends and gaming on social conduct and personality development.
Call for responsible content creation
Encouraging a more constructive approach, he advised youth to create content that promotes culture, heritage, and positive social values, rather than engaging in hazardous activities for viral fame. He reminded them of their responsibility towards family, society, and the nation.
Message to parents
Addressing parents, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of digital awareness and literacy, urging them to guide children towards meaningful use of social media. He called on parents to motivate their children to engage in creative and productive activities and ensure better use of time.
Focus on youth development
He further noted that the state government has introduced various schemes for youth development and encouraged young people to benefit from them according to their interests, emphasizing that a strong youth base is essential for a prosperous state.
