Drishyam 3 Box Office Collection Day 2: Drishyam 3 has taken a strong start at the box office as Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty in the much-loved thriller franchise. The film was released in cinemas on May 21 during Mohanlal’s birthday celebrations. However, after an impressive opening day, the movie witnessed a noticeable drop in collections on Day 2.
Despite the decline, it has comfortably crossed the Rs 25 crore mark in India within just two days of release. The thriller continues to perform better than several recent Malayalam releases and has maintained steady momentum at the ticket window.
Drishyam 2 Box Office Collection Day 2
According to Sacnilk, Drishyam 3 earned Rs 11.05 crore net in India on Day 2. The figure is around 30% lower than its opening-day collection of Rs 15.85 crore net. With this, the film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 26.90 crore.
On Day 1, the thriller had recorded nearly 51% occupancy in theatres across India, showing strong audience interest right from the morning shows. The second-day drop is a normal weekday trend after a grand opening linked to Mohanlal’s birthday.
The film also opened strongly in overseas markets. On its first day, Drishyam 3 grossed Rs 18.37 crore in India and added another Rs 25 crore internationally. This pushed its worldwide opening total to Rs 43.37 crore gross. However, production house Aashirvad Cinemas claimed a higher worldwide opening figure of Rs 50.35 crore.
Mohanlal Film Performs Better Than Several Recent Releases
Even with the Day 2 dip, Drishyam 3 is still outperforming many recent films starring Mohanlal. His earlier release Thudarum collected Rs 14.30 crore in two days, while Hridayapoorvam managed around Rs 5.75 crore during the same period.
DON'T MISS
The actor’s historical drama Vrusshabha had a much weaker theatrical run and ended with around Rs 1.64 crore net in India.
However, Drishyam 3 is still behind L2: Empuraan, which grossed Rs 32.10 crore within its first two days. The coming weekend will now play an important role in deciding how far the film can go at the box office.
Interestingly, the Telugu-speaking regions are responding more positively to the film compared to the Tamil and Kannada dubbed versions.

About Drishyam 3
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 continues the story of Georgekutty and his family four-and-a-half years after the events of the second film.
This time, Georgekutty adapts his novel into a successful movie, but the renewed attention once again puts his family under pressure from the media and police investigation. Meanwhile, Varun’s parents Geetha and Prabhakar join hands with a suspended police officer named Sahadevan to target Georgekutty’s daughter Anju.
The film stars Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Murali Gopy and Veena Nandakumar in key roles. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 100 crore, the thriller has a runtime of 2 hours and 39 minutes.
Director Jeethu Joseph reportedly drew inspiration for the Drishyam franchise from a real-life family dispute. The film was released globally on May 21, and has already emerged as one of the biggest Malayalam releases of the year.
Meanwhile, the Hindi remake starring Ajay Devgn is scheduled to release on October 2, 2026.
