A shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur has gone viral after a video allegedly showed a police sub-inspector being accused of stealing ₹20,000 from a truck driver.
What Happened?
According to reports, Sub-Inspector Girish Mishra, who was deployed on court security duty, allegedly boarded a truck travelling from Ghazipur to Hamirpur while in uniform. The truck driver later accused the SI of stealing ₹20,000 during the journey. When the truck reached Hamirpur, the accused allegedly attempted to leave the vehicle, and the driver became suspicious and chased him. The driver, with the help of others nearby, caught the sub-inspector on the roadside. Videos circulating on social media show the accused being confronted and allegedly beaten by the driver. During the search, the driver claimed that the entire ₹20,000 was recovered from the SI. Following the confrontation, the accused officer was handed over to the local police.
Police Reaction
Hamirpur Police issued an official statement confirming that a written complaint had been received regarding the alleged theft. According to Beat Area Officer, Sadar, Yashpal Singh, proceedings are underway to register a case under the relevant legal provisions at Kotwali Nagar Police Station, Hamirpur.
The police also confirmed the following:
- The concerned sub-inspector has been immediately suspended.
- A departmental inquiry has been ordered.
- The investigation is currently underway.
- Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.The police have not yet released the outcome of the inquiry, and the allegations remain under investigation.
