The Bhagwant Mann government has announced a fresh set of appointments to various Market Committees, planning boards and other government institutions across the state. Several existing chairpersons of Market Committees have also been retained in their respective positions.
Bhagwant Mann Government Retains Market Committee Chairpersons
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated all the newly appointed chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, directors and members. In a message, Mann expressed hope that the newly appointed office-bearers would perform their responsibilities with honesty, dedication and a commitment to public welfare.
Announces Key Appointments
The Chief Minister said the appointees should work without any discrimination and focus on the development of Punjab and the welfare of farmers, labourers and people from every section of society.
As per the government list, chairpersons retained in various Market Committees include Rantej Bath at Kalanaur, Amandeep Singh Bawa at Faridkot, Gurmeet Singh Arewala at Jaito and Rashpinder Raja at Kotkapura. Other retained chairpersons include Karandeep Sharma at Chanarthal, Aman Pandori at Maloud, Major Singh at Samrala and Harjinder Singh Rode at Kot Ise Khan.
The list also includes appointments covering Market Committees in Dudhasadhan, Moga, Dhuri, Lehra Gaga, Sangrur, Cheema, Sunam, Tapa, Rama and Boha.
The latest appointments come at a time when the state government is seeking to strengthen the functioning of its grassroots-level institutions. Market Committees have an important role in the agricultural marketing system and are closely connected with farmers and the functioning of grain markets.
