He began the day comforting flood-affected families in Farrukhabad and ended it by launching a massive development package in Mathura ahead of Janmashtami. The dual visit reflects the state government’s attempt to balance disaster relief with its long-term development agenda.
Bringing Relief to Farrukhabad’s Flood Victims
Farrukhabad has been badly hit by rising flood waters, with 102 villages across the Sadar, Kaimganj, and Amritpur tehsils affected. CM Yogi personally toured all three flood-hit areas and distributed relief kits to 1,000 families at the Police Lines. Each kit weighs around 50 kg and contains essentials like rice, wheat flour, potatoes, dal, cooking oil, spices, and other daily-use items, along with a raincoat and dignity kits for women.
Beyond food supplies, the Chief Minister also handed out housing land allotment certificates to families who lost their homes to the floods, along with financial assistance from the State Disaster Response Fund. He assured residents that round-the-clock control rooms, flood monitoring posts, and relief camps have been set up, and that his government is committed to a long-term fix rather than temporary patchwork.
A Long-Term Flood Solution on the Table
One of the biggest takeaways from the Farrukhabad visit was the CM’s assurance of a “permanent solution” to the region’s recurring flood problem. He announced that dredging of the river would begin on a war footing, and that farmers whose land is acquired for this work will receive fair compensation. He also directed officials to ensure adequate fodder, vaccines, and medicines for cattle in the affected villages, and instructed the Public Works Department to start road repairs as soon as the flood waters recede.
Mathura Gets a ₹1,051 Crore Development Push
From Farrukhabad, the Chief Minister’s focus shifted to Mathura, where he arrived for a two-day visit timed with Janmashtami festivities. In Vrindavan, he inaugurated the newly built Swami Haridas Auditorium, a 1,000-seat venue meant for cultural and religious events. Alongside this, he launched or laid the foundation stone for 229 development projects worth close to ₹1,051 crore, covering everything from infrastructure to tourism-related facilities across the Braj region.
