Remembering Sir M. Visvesvaraya
The day is dedicated to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a civil engineer and former Diwan of Mysore, who is remembered for his pioneering flood-control systems, including the automatic sluice gates at Khadakvasla Reservoir near Pune. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, for his lifelong service to public infrastructure and education. His legacy continues to inspire generations of engineers.
