A late-night drive on the Coastal Road in Mumbai turned into a tragic accident on Sunday that resulted in the death of three people, with one of them being critically injured. All the occupants of the BMW car were transported to Nair Hospital for treatment. This accident happened early in the morning on 20th September near Lotus Jetty.

BMW crashes on Mumbai Coastal Road
According to the police, the BMW car met with the accident at about 5:20 AM when the vehicle was driving from Marine Drive to Haji Ali. According to police, the driver was apparently driving at a very high speed before losing grip on the vehicle. The car collided with the outer wall of the Coastal Road and tumbled off the elevated path. It was reported that the vehicle fell to a height of about 75 feet. This unfortunate accident took place near Lotus Jetty, located opposite to Lala Lajpatrai College. All four occupants of the BMW car were rushed to Nair Hospital after the accident.
Three killed, one critically injured
Three occupants were declared dead after being taken to the hospital, while the fourth person was admitted in critical condition. Initial reports identified the deceased as Shanay Gajjal, 21, and Dhirya Seth, 17, while the identity details of the third victim varied in early reports. Other reports later identified the third deceased as Aditya Jakasania, 19 and the injured person as Aditya Oswal, 23. Police said some of the occupants were students at a management college in Vile Parle. The BMW was reportedly owned by Gajjal’s family.
Police investigate the fatal crash
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Investigators are recording statements from friends and witnesses while examining how the vehicle lost control. The crash has also renewed attention on speeding and road safety on Mumbai’s Coastal Road, a high-speed corridor connecting Marine Drive with the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The investigation remains underway, with further details expected as police establish the exact sequence of events.
