Bhagwant Mann Highlights 19 Toll Closures, SSF and Thermal Plant Purchase in Ludhiana

The party has announced a statewide door-to-door outreach drive from September 20, with more than 2.68 lakh booth-level members.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday highlighted his government’s reported achievements while launching the Aam Aadmi Party’s election pamphlet in Ludhiana ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

Mann said the state government had undertaken several initiatives beyond the guarantees announced ahead of the 2022 elections. His remarks were made as the AAP began its campaign to take the government’s work to people across Punjab.

Bhagwant Mann Highlights 19 Toll Plaza Closures

Mann said his government had shut down 19 toll plazas in Punjab. He has previously claimed that the closures are saving residents around ₹64 lakh every day.

He also highlighted the purchase of thermal power generation assets, describing it as an initiative that was not part of the party’s original election guarantees.

SSF Credited With Saving More Than 2,700 Lives

The Chief Minister also referred to the Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF), claiming that the road-safety initiative had helped save more than 2,700 lives.

According to reports on Mann’s remarks, he also cited a reduction of around 50% in road accident deaths after the force was introduced. These figures were presented by Mann while outlining his government’s record.

Mann Targets Traditional Political Parties

During the Ludhiana event, Mann criticised the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP, alleging that traditional political parties had contributed to Punjab’s problems with drugs and unemployment.

He further claimed that a change in government could affect schemes and initiatives including free electricity, Aam Aadmi Clinics, canal water supply and government recruitment. These statements were part of Mann’s election campaign address and represent the AAP’s political position.

AAP to Take Pamphlet Door-to-Door

The Ludhiana event marked the formal launch of the AAP’s campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. The party has announced a statewide door-to-door outreach drive from September 20, with more than 2.68 lakh booth-level members expected to participate across 25,332 polling booths.
