Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has appealed to people to support local artisans and craftsmen by choosing products made under the state’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative as gifts during the Dhanteras festival. In a message shared on the occasion, he said that festivals should also become an opportunity to recognise and encourage the skilled workers whose craftsmanship preserves the state’s cultural heritage.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s traditional crafts, the Chief Minister mentioned Bhadohi’s world-famous carpets, Prayagraj’s moonj craft, Mainpuri’s tarkashi work and Chitrakoot’s wooden toys. He said these products represent the state’s distinctive identity and reflect the dedication and skills of its artisans, whose work has been passed down through generations.

Adityanath also highlighted the growth in the state’s exports, stating that exports had increased from ₹84,000 crore in 2016-17 to more than ₹2 lakh crore in 2025-26. He attributed this growth to the enterprise and capabilities of the state’s artisans and craftsmen, who have contributed to taking traditional products to wider markets.
The Chief Minister further pointed to modern exhibition facilities in Lucknow and Greater Noida, along with Bhadohi’s Carpet Bazaar, saying these platforms are helping traditional crafts gain greater visibility in national and international markets. Such initiatives, he said, are creating opportunities for local products to reach a wider consumer base.
