2023 Kia Carens: Futuristic MPV launched with new powertrains and gearboxes, everything you need to know

2023 Kia Carens: Kia released the 2023 Carens MPV, which has new engines, transmissions, and features. The new prices have been posted on the company’s website. Prices for the 2023 Kia Carens now range from Rs 11.55 lakh to Rs 17.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the market, it goes up against MPVs like the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta.

New engine will have a power output of 160PS

The 2023 Kia Carens will have a new 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. This is the same engine that powers the Hyundai Alcazar and the soon-to-be-released next-generation Verna. This engine has been replaced by a 1.4-liter turbo petrol unit because it didn’t meet the BS-VI Phase 2 or RDE emission standards. This new engine will have a power output of 160PS and a torque output of 253Nm, which is 20PS and 11Nm more than the 1.4L turbo petrol engine.

In this case, “manual gearbox” has been replaced with “iMT” (Intelligent Manual Transmission). The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) has also been kept. Carens 1.5L iMT costs between Rs 12 Lakh and Rs 17,55 Lakh. Its DCT variants cost between Rs 15.75 lakh to Rs 18.45 lakh. The 1.5L gasoline engine with 115PS and the 1.5L diesel engine with 116PS have also been kept.

The MPV also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen

Kia has also added more features to the Carens that come as standard. It will come with a digital instrument console that is 12.5 inches in size. Before, this feature was only available on the next-to-base Prestige model, but now it will also be on the base Premium model. Kia’s connected car technology will now also work with Alexa. The MPV also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen for entertainment, cruise control, electric second-row seats that fold down with one touch, ventilated front seats, and an electric sunroof.
