Honda debuts entry level electric bikes, all we know about these EVs

Honda: Honda will roll out at least 10 electric two-wheelers globally by 2025 as part of the first phase of its EV strategy. The goal for EV sales is one million vehicles by 2027. Honda EV sales are expected to reach 3.5 million units by the end of this decade. Honda will still rely heavily on ICE-based vehicles throughout this decade, though. Only 15% of Honda’s overall sales in 2030 will come from EV sales. A massive task that must be carried out in a planned, staged fashion is switching completely to electric.

Honda entry-level electric bikes

Honda has displayed a few of its newest electric motorcycles, including the Cub e, Dax e, and Zoomer e. These have their respective petroleum counterparts as a base. These revolutionary e-bikes are initially being sold in China. Honda appears to be following a similar initial EV plan to other OEMs, which involves retrofitting current petroleum vehicles with electric motors.

The new entry-level electric bikes from Honda might not call for a driver’s licence in several international countries. That’s because the maximum speed is 15 mph (approx. 24 kmph). It appears that the range will be lower than on ordinary electric bikes, but this won’t be a problem because of features like fast charging and battery switching.

Additionally, pedals are included with Cub, Dax, and Zoomer e. The bikes can still be used as bicycles even if the batteries die for any reason or if there is a problem with them in any other way. Because of their thin profile, users won’t have to exert much effort to run them.

Honda’s electric bikes are a great option for Gen Z because of their adorable appearance. The younger generation is more accepting of electric vehicles, and Honda is making sure that there are a variety of possibilities. The brand-new e-bikes from Honda are functional and have a simple style. These work best for quick dashes over city streets.

Honda’s electric roadmap for India

The introduction of Honda electric bikes in India is not yet confirmed. Honda seems to have chosen a more secure strategy for the Indian market rather than trying something new. The Activa Electric, which is scheduled for release in January 2024, would be Honda’s first electric two-wheeler for India. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) MD and CEO Atsushi Ogata has confirmed this.
