Mercedes Mini G wagon to be a reality soon? May come with an electric powertrain, all we know so far

Mercedes Mini G wagon: Mercedes-Benz is reportedly considering the introduction of a legit junior version of its renowned off-roader, according to a recently discovered German report.

Unnamed company insiders told the German daily Handelsblatt that Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius is pushing for a “Mini-G” to debut around 2026.

The company’s future Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), which is scheduled to make its debut in a new CLA in 2024, will apparently form the foundation for this as-yet-unnamed crossover. If this is the case, the “Mini-G” might be a tougher-looking variant of the GLA or GLB of the future, which is also anticipated to use the MMA platform.

According to reports, the “Mini-G” will have both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric powertrain options, just like the GLA and GLB. The tiny G could make its electric vehicle debut given that Mercedes will only develop electric vehicles from 2030.

Expected specifications and launch

According to a report, the 800-volt architecture might lead to a range of 300 miles or 483 kilometres should the mini-G occur.

Although Källenius’s support for the idea is confirmed by the Handelsblatt report, the proposal has not yet received an official announcement from Mercedes-Benz.

What is known, however, is that the manufacturer plans the introduction of a new model named the GLG in 2026; this name may ultimately be given to the mini-G.
