Engine details

The new BS6-compliant engine in the interceptor has not changed mechanically. Power has hardly decreased by 0.2PS and is currently rated at 47.45PS. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission, an assist clutch, and a slipper clutch. The maximum torque remains constant at 52 Nm. The 648cc parallel twin air-cooled motor is tuned even when travelling at triple-digit highway speeds because of the counterbalance.

An entirely new 398.15cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine powers the Triumph Speed 400, producing 40 PS at 8000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6500 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch is connected to it. It has a huge 16,000km service interval.

Features

Basic features including a taillight, indicators, and halogen headlight are included with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. It has a twin-pod analogue instrument panel with a tachometer and speedometer, as well as a digital insert with an odometer, fuel gauge, and service reminder. At present time, Royal Enfield does not even offer turn-by-turn navigation as an option for this bike. Recently, the company introduced an alloy-wheeled Interceptor 650 model with rotary switch cubes, an LED headlamp, and USB charging on the left switch cube.

All-LED lighting, bar-end mirrors, switchable traction control, and Bosch dual-channel ABS are included on the Triumph Speed 400. While lacking smartphone connectivity or GPS, the semi-digital instrument cluster is still very information-rich, equipped with a gear position indication, distance to empty reading, and warning lights. For charging the electrical items installed on the handlebars, there is even a USB-C socket. Triumph includes options for heated grips, indicators, and luggage in its accessories catalogue. Each of these features comes with a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty.
