Skoda Enyad iV RS: Two global ice drift records have been officially achieved by the Enyaq RS iV SUV, Skoda's second all-electric sporty variant. Both the "Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice" and the "Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice (electric car)" records have been confirmed by Guinness World Records. On Thursday, January 19, 2023, they were achieved by automotive journalist Richard Meaden on a 188.496 m circumference circular track on the frozen Stortjärnen lake close to stersund, Sweden.

All about the World Record

Skoda's first electric SUV was driven sideways for 7.35 kilometres by Richard Meaden after he took control of the wheel. After drifting on the 60-meter-diameter circle 39 times in 15 minutes and 58 seconds, the adventure was completed. The Enyaq RS's peak speed was 48.67 km/h at one point, and its lowest speed was 31.64 km/h. Since "Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice" and "Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice (electric car)" fall under different categories in Guinness, Skoda noted that its Enyaq RS really ended up breaking two records.

While commenting on his achievement, Richard Meaden said, “Being back behind the wheel of another record-breaking Škoda is pretty special, going from the Bonneville Salt Flats of the USA to a frozen lake in Scandinavia – setting two different records in two very different cars. I’m incredibly proud to be part of a record-breaking team again 12 years on – who would have thought we’d be here drifting an electric car on ice? It shows just how much the automotive world is changing, and how exciting it is too.”
