Tata Altroz XT Dark edition launched, starting price will surprise you

Tata Altroz XT Dark edition: Tata Motors has added to the Dark edition range of the Altroz to mark the second anniversary of the hatchback. The Altroz Dark edition is now available in the mid-level XT trim, with prices starting at Rs 7.96 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has also added more features and a new engine option to the top-of-the-line Dark XZ+.

What is new with the Tata Altroz XT Dark edition?

The Tata Altroz XT Dark costs Rs 46,000 more than the regular Altroz XT, which it is based on. For the extra money, the Dark edition gets Cosmo Dark exterior paint, dark tinted “Hyperstyle” wheels (not alloys), “#Dark” exterior badging, an all-black interior, perforated leatherette seats, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, front seatbelts, and rear headrests, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever.

The new Altroz XT Dark comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 86 hp, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 110 hp, or a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 90 hp. All of these engines only come with a 5-speed manual transmission. The prices for the new Tata Altroz XT Dark are listed below.

What is new with the Tata Altroz XZ+ Dark edition?

Tata has also added the 90hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine to the Altroz XZ+ Dark with this update. As a point of reference, the Altroz Dark XZ+ used to only come with two gasoline engines. The Altroz XZ+ Dark diesel costs Rs 10.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is Rs 30,000 more than the regular Altroz XZ+ diesel.

Also, the manufacturer added some features to the XZ+ Dark trim when they had the chance. All Altroz XZ+ Dark models will now come with extra safety features like Brake Sway Control and a system that keeps track of the pressure in the tyres.

The Altroz’s range is getting bigger just before one of its biggest competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, gets a new look and goes on sale. In addition to the Baleno, the Altroz competes with the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza (which is also getting a new look soon), and the Volkswagen Polo.
