Volkswagen ID.GTI: With its most recent unveiling at IAA Mobility 2023, the ID.GTI Concept, Volkswagen appears to have found the ideal balance between past and present. This isn’t just another electric vehicle, it’s VW’s attempt to revive the splendour of its 48-year-old GTI tradition in an electric form.

Volkswagen ID.GTI packed interior

Drivers are welcomed into the ID. GTI Concept with retro-inspired plaid seats and vintage gauges.
Dual screens from the ID. 2 Concept are present in the digital interior, and they have different settings, including traditional gauge displays.
A special driving experience is provided by the near-production 12.9-inch center display, 10.9-inch driver screen, and a range of physical controls.

Powertrain details

The powertrain’s specifications are yet unknown, but according to VW, the all-electric GTI will have an electronic locking front differential that is managed by the vehicle dynamics manager, just like the existing Golf GTIs. The ID.2all idea boasted a 223 horsepower engine and a sub-7-second 0-100 kmph sprint time. Expect the GTI to outperform these numbers by a reasonable margin.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “With the ID. GTI Concept, we are taking the GTI DNA into the electric age. It remains sporty, iconic, technologically progressive, and accessible, but now with a new interpretation for tomorrow’s world: electric, fully connected, and extremely emotive.”
