Apple iPhone 14: The newest iPhone 14 line-up will be unveiled at Apple’s September launch event, which is just a few days away. In the days leading up to the announcement, rumours have been circulating as fervently as ever.
Since Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone in 2007, it’s become a yearly tradition for tech experts and aficionados to analyse data from patents to supply chain leaks in an effort to make predictions about the future before the product’s inevitable release.
Here are 5 iPhone 14 rumours to check out before the smartphone lineup is eventually announced, with Apple getting ready for the launch event on September 11:
- 48-Megapixel Camera Sensor
One of the most intriguing rumours is that the new iPhone models would come with a very expensive new camera. The main (wide) sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will increase from 12 MP to 48 MP, making it the biggest camera improvement, according to Mashable India.
2. No iPhone 14 Mini
The cute, compact iPhone mini versions might be coming to an end, according to 9to5Mac. According to the source, Apple will retire its smallest iPhone model with the 14 lineup. However, there will be enough iPhones for everyone since 4 iPhone models are scheduled to debut on September 7.
3. ProMotion Display
All four of the iPhone 14 models, according to early rumours, will have ProMotion displays with refresh rates of up to 120Hz. This may not be the case, though, since Apple will probably only allow ProMotion technology on the iPhone 14 Pro models.
4. Revival of Old Battery Percentage Indicator
The traditional battery percentage indicator will reportedly return with the iPhone 14 Pro models, meaning that the percentage and the battery level icon will coexist. This is according to GSM Arena. The iOS 16 beta displays the % inside the battery icon, in contrast to Apple’s current version of the indicator on later devices, which takes the shape of a battery icon (without a percentage).
5. Front Dual cutouts appear visually as one
There have been rumours that Apple may finally improve the look of the iPhone 14 Pro models, since dummy devices have been spotted with a hole punched and a pill-shaped cutout in the centre. These holes will hold the Face ID sensors and an upgraded front-camera sensor.
According to one rumour regarding the new “notch” in the display, the two cuts will blend together utilising display pixels that aren’t lighted. According to GSM Arena, the software would decide when the pixels in the spaces between the cutouts should be lit up or just left off.
