Ford: The company recalls a few models of BS6 diesel

Ford may not have continued operations in India, but the company still provides warranty, service, and parts support. Ford has now issued a recall for a few BS6 diesel EcoSport, Figo, Aspire, and Freestyle models due to problems with compliance with pollution standards.

The diesel particulate filter (DPF) efficiency and emission compliance issues, according to Ford, are what led to the recall. Additionally, it lists “oil life associated issues” that could need to be addressed.

If necessary, a new catalytic converter and exhaust gas O2 sensor will be installed in the car. In the most recent recall for BS6 diesel vehicles, which was issued in September 2021, the catalytic converter will be calibrated on vehicles that were upgraded with a new unit. The most recent firmware for the electronic control unit will also be installed on all concerned models (ECU).

All impacted vehicles will receive the upgrade at no cost, and Ford will get in touch with the owners of those vehicles immediately by phone or mail. By inputting their vehicle’s 17-digit VIN number below, customers can also determine for themselves whether their vehicle has been impacted. Owners who are affected must schedule a visit as soon as possible with their local service centre.

The same 1.5-liter, 100hp, 215Nm diesel engine powered all four of the recalled vehicles. Reaching a service centre won’t be a problem for customers because Ford confirmed it will keep 90% of its service network.
