Oppo ColorOS 13: Top 5 features of Android 13-based operating system explained

Oppo ColorOS 13: Oppo unveiled its Android 13-based ColorOS 13 today, and the public beta version will be available this month on a variety of devices. The most recent ColorOS iteration features a more minimalist user interface, which the company claims boasts its “Aquamorphic Design,” which changes the “colour of light between sunrise and sunset at sea level.” To maintain readability, the texts are becoming bolder and more prominent.

Some cool features of Android 13-based ColorOS 13

Oppo provided us with access to the ColorOS 13 beta on its flagship device, the Oppo Find X5 Pro, which is still commercially unavailable in India. However, more Oppo smartphones will be eligible for beta testing beginning next month. ColorOS 13 Beta will be available in October for smartphones such as the Oppo Reno 8 5G, F21 Pro, and the low-cost Oppo K10 5G.

Meanwhile, here are the top five changes that the ColorOS 13-based Android 13 will bring

ColorOS 13 design: Beginning with the drop-down panel, aka Control Centre, this section now retrieves notifications from bottom to top rather than vice versa. Apple, too, is offering a similar update with its new iOS 16 for iPhones.

ColorOS 13 personalization: Both ColorOS 12 and ColorOS 13 include 19 static wallpapers, but ColorOS 13 includes 17 live wallpapers that highlight the version’s Aquamorphic theme. Personalization has been renamed Wallpapers and Styles under Settings to make it more user-friendly. The options in these settings remain largely unchanged.

ColorOS 13 camera: The native camera is getting minor design changes. Oppo ColorOS 13 keeps the dirty lens warning in the camera settings, which I like. Otherwise, the UI is mostly the same, with only minor changes to the camera (yet). I have yet to test the full capabilities of the camera and whether the app has been optimised for the latest Android 13-based version.
ColorOS 13 privacy setting: Because it is based on Android 13, ColorOS 13 will receive a slew of much-anticipated security updates. As a long-time iPhone user, I like these changes, but the Android counterparts face a long road ahead.

ColorOS 13 optimization: According to Oppo, ColorOS 13 marks the first appearance of the Dynamic Computing Engine. The engine adds two significant improvements to ColorOS 13: longer battery life and the ability to run more apps in the background.
