Steelbird Ignyte IGN-7: This Made-in-India unit of Ignyte gets Economic Commission For
Europe 22.06 certification

Steelbird Ignyte IGN-7: Steelbird, one of India's premier helmet manufacturers, has introduced the new Ignyte IGN-7, the first made-in-India helmet to gain ECE 22.06 certification. The Ignyte IGN- 7 is also the first helmet in India to be triple homologated, since it meets DOT FMVSS No. 218 for the US market as well as India's Bureau of Indian Criteria (BIS) safety standards. The new helmet is priced starting at Rs. 6,199.

Passed these safety tests

The ECE 22.06 helmet homologation standard went into force in 2022, replacing ECE 22.05. The ECE standards are the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's helmet safety and regulation requirements. Helmets are subjected to additional tests under these safety standards, such as impact resistance in high and low-speed crashes, rotating impact tests, and testing with attachments such as intercom systems and sun visors. The new requirements require helmets to pass 18 tests, up from five under ECE 22.06. The helmets are also tested at speeds of 6, 7.5, and 8.2 metres per second.

Sizes and variants

The Ignyte IGN-7 is now legal for sale in Europe and comes in three sizes: M, L, and XL. It is available in three monotone colours or with decals. The helmet also has the NACA airflow technology, which is used in supercars and aircraft to improve airflow. The IGN-7 includes the NACA airflow technology, which is utilised in supercars and aviation to provide smoother airflow. The NACA inlets allow enormous volumes of air to enter the helmet, refreshing and dehumidifying the inside, while the exits allow for fast evacuation of stale air.

Advanced protection system

The IGN-7 is made up of nine different densities of EPS providing more impact protection for the rider. It has a track-ready double D-ring fastener and a factory-fitted pinlock 70 anti-fog lens.

The Ignyte IGN-7 will compete with helmets from Axor, MT, and others. It is accessible on the company's website as well as at its stores across the country.
