iPhone 14 Pro: design change, notch issue and more revealed here

iPhone 14 Pro: Apple will introduce the iPhone 14 series, in September 2022 and as usual, there have been numerous leaks about the incoming new line. According to the most recent rumour from reliable source Ice Universe, Apple will replace the notch with two cuts, including one in the form of a pill that would house the Face ID system. With the release of the iPhone X in 2017, Apple first used the notch.

The most recent leak is consistent with other stories, which also made hints about this impending design change. Additionally, according to renderings, the company intends to use one cutout for the front-facing camera and the other for the Face ID dot projector.

Since there is no official word on when Apple will reveal its new range, it is very certain that the Pro and non-Pro variants will differ significantly. We will examine everything else regarding the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that is currently known in this section.

Display:

The display will be one of the key distinctions between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models. Apple will use Samsung OLED screens for both the Pro and non-Pro versions, however it appears like the Pro model could use the M12 OLED. The M12 is a TFT OLED panel with a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO; sometimes known as LTPO) that can dynamically alter refresh rates between 1Hz and 120Hz.

Furthermore, an Always-On display is anticipated for the iPhone 14 Pro series. This was also hinted at in Apple’s SwiftUI beta for Xcode 1. SwiftUI allows developers to view changes made to apps in real-time. Additionally, modifications to the iPhone 16 beta’s wallpaper suggest that the series will include Always-On displays.

Faster Processor and Memory:

According to supply chain insiders, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will include 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM, according to Digitimes. Apple will make use of the 5nm-based A16 Bionic chipset. Certainty that Apple updates to the following A series processor every year, this is somewhat of a given. This will probably result in better performance, thermals, etc. It’s interesting to note that the A16 processor may only be available in the Pro models; starting in 2021, the A15 processor will be available in the standard iPhone 14, 14 Max models.

Camera:

The camera island appears to be larger than it was this year. This time, Apple will go for a 48MP camera sensor, claims Apple Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo. He had previously projected that 8K recording will be supported. Kuo recently tweeted that the 48MP camera sensor will also increase the size of the camera module this time. It is unclear whether the ultra-wide will stay at 12MP or if it will also get upgraded to a 48MP camera.
