Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5: All new sportier, sturdier and spacious SUV to come with three seating options, 9 seater in works

Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5: Mahindra intends to expand the Scorpio Classic’s variant lineup. This model, which will fall between the Classic S and Classic S11 trims, is most likely to be known as the Classic S5. The higher-spec Classic S11, which is priced closer to the Scorpio N, does not sell as well, so a new variant has been introduced.

What we should expect from the company?

Three seating options for the Scorpio Classic S5 will be available: a 7-seater with bench, a 7-seater with captain’s chairs, and a 9-seater with bench. Currently, depending on the variant, only two of the three options are available to the other variants. However, according to our sources, that is probably going to change now that the Classic S11 will also have a 9-seat layout.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5: Powertrain

The same Gen 2 mHawk, 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine, with 132hp and 300Nm of torque, will power the Classic S5. It transmits power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. The automatic gearbox and 4×4 option that were available on the previous-generation Scorpio model are not available on the Scorpio Classic.

Price and waiting time

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is currently available for between Rs. 12.64 lakh and Rs. 16.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Given that it falls between the Classic S and Classic S11 models, the new Classic S5 variant is likely to cost around Rs 14 lakh. The waiting times for the current models are typically between 5 and 6 months.
