Mahindra XUV400 EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Mahindra & Mahindra, the manufacturer of popular internal combustion engine SUVs such as the Scorpio-N, Thar, XUV700, and XUV300, today introduced the XUV400, its first electric SUV, in India. While reservations for the XUV400 will begin on January 26, the business expects to deliver 20,000 units of the electrified SUV within a year. The Mahindra XUV400, which will be available in 34 cities in phase one, will compete with the Tata Nexon EV.

Mahindra XUV400 EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Price and variants

Mahindra’s new electric SUV is available in two varieties, the XUV400 EC and the XUV400 EL, with costs ranging from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). These are, however, promotional prices that apply to the first 5,000 bookings of each option. Tata Motors’ electric SUV, on the other hand, is available in two models: Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max, with costs ranging from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 20.04 lakh (ex-showroom).

Range and battery

The XUV400 EC has a 34.5kWh lithium-ion battery with a 375km range, whereas the XUV400 EL has a larger 39.4kWh lithium-ion battery with a 456km range. Both models are powered by a 150PS/310Nm electric motor. In comparison, the Nexon EV Prime has a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery with a 312km claimed range, while the Nexon EV Max has a 40.5kWh lithium-ion battery with a 437km claimed range. The Nexon EV Prime has a 129PS/245Nm electric motor as opposed to the Nexon EV Max’s 143PS/250Nm electric motor.

Mahindra XUV400 EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Other features

The Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is outfitted with projector headlamps with DRLs, LED taillamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, and door, sill, and wheel arch claddings. A height-adjustable driver seat, height-adjustable seatbelts, front and rear armrests, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, smartwatch connectivity, and an electric sunroof are all standard equipment.
