Minus Zero zPod: India’s first driverless car unveiled, uses a system of six cameras instead of LIDAR with ADAS, all details here

Minus Zero zPod: The zPod, which Minus Zero claims is India’s first driverless car, has been launched by the Bengaluru-based autonomous driving start-up. The self-driving technology that the artificial intelligence (AI) company has built is all displayed in the zPod. In order to support other manufacturers’ ADAS suites, Minus Zero, a tech company, claims it is not an automaker but rather a supplier of autonomous driving technology.

Know about the Al tech

According to Minus Zero, the zPod is only a technological demonstration of what the company is attempting to do. It also aims to lessen traffic congestion, road accidents, and the resulting injuries and fatalities. Gursimran Kalra, COO of Minus Zero, uses Bengaluru as an example. He claims that the city “wastes 2.5 lakh litres of fuel every hour, every day just in traffic” and that the total cost of all the inefficiencies “leads to whopping $22 billion of losses to a single nation over a period of one year.”The zPod, unlike many other autonomous cars, uses a system of six cameras instead of LIDAR (light detection and ranging), placing four on the sides and two each on the front and back.

Minus Zero zPod: Concept

The zPod is an autonomous vehicle that, as was already said, can travel in any location and environment thanks to its camera system. With its AI technology, Minus Zero asserts that it can scale up to level 5 autonomy, or essentially have no human interaction while operating a vehicle in the actual world. The zPod is a four-seater electric vehicle without any controls or a dashboard like a typical car. The seats are facing each other and the vehicle is powered by electricity. The AI handles all of the driving and processes in real-time all of the data from the photos that the cameras have gathered. According to Minus Zero, the use of the camera suite will aid in reducing expenditures.

Will Minus Zero zPod be put in production?

Unusually, Minus Zero claims that it has no plans to put the zPod into production and that it was just intended to serve as a demonstration of the AI-based autonomous driving technology it has created. The zPod, according to the company, can inspire automakers to consider fresh options for non-driver-centric vehicle design.
