Poco M5: Looks Different, Runs Faster and performs exceptionally well, all you need to know

Poco M5: If you want a smartphone that costs between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, the reality is that you can’t get everything. If you want 5G connectivity and performance, you don’t have a lot of options, at least for now. Since 5G connectivity has begun to roll out, this could change in the coming months. But for now, companies are still making 4G phones for this market. One of these phones is the Poco M5, which starts at Rs 12,499 and tries to be fast and have a cool design. But it doesn’t connect to 5G. So, does buying this phone still make sense? Here’s the review.

What’s good about the Poco M5?

The Poco M5 might be affordable phone, but it does sport a unique design. Instead of the usual polycarbonate back, Poco gave this one a back that looks and feels like fake leather. It looks very high-quality, and you haven’t seen any wear and tear from using it yet.  Still, the blue Poco M5 looks different from other phones in this category, which is something that some users will like it.

The phone has a big 6.58-inch full HD+ display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The display is good enough for this market segment and works well for gaming and watching content on OTT apps, as I found out when I used it. But yes, the display does not work well in bright sunlight, and you will need to turn the brightness all the way up. However, this is to be expected at this price range. When considering the cost of the phone, the quality of the audio it produces is surprisingly satisfactory.

POCO M5 performance

But the performance of the phone is really what makes an impression, not the look or the screen. The MediaTek Helio G99 chipset gives the Poco M5 a steady and reliable daily performance. The version I’m reviewing has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The device worked fine with games like Asphalt 9, Sky, and Mars, and I didn’t notice any heating either. The phone is also great for everyday tasks, like using Chrome with multiple tabs open or switching between apps.

The phone’s battery is 5000 mAh, which is a standard number for many devices these days. You can be sure that the phone will easily last the whole day, even if you use it a lot. However, Poco has limited the charging to 18W, even though it comes with a 22.5W charger. It will take approximately two hours to fully charge this smartphone.
