Bhagwant Mann Inaugurates ₹300-Crore Feed Plant by Cargill in Mandi Gobindgarh, Calls It Major Industrial Boost

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday announced the inauguration of South Asia’s largest animal feed manufacturing plant set up by Cargill at Wazirabad in Mandi Gobindgarh, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the state’s industrial and agricultural economy.

Bhagwant Mann Project Details

According to the Chief Minister, the facility has been established with an investment of ₹300 crore and is expected to enhance feed production capacity for the livestock sector. Officials said the plant is designed to support dairy farmers by ensuring access to high-quality feed, which can improve milk yield and farm productivity.

Boost to Farmers’ Income

Mann stated that the project would directly benefit dairy farmers by reducing input costs and improving efficiency, thereby increasing their earnings. He emphasised that strengthening allied agricultural sectors such as dairy is essential for diversifying rural income sources.

Employment Generation

The Chief Minister said the plant will create hundreds of employment opportunities for youth in the region, both directly within the facility and indirectly through logistics, supply chains and related services.

Industrial Push Ahead of Investors’ Meet

He noted that the project comes ahead of the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 and reflects the government’s efforts to attract large-scale investments. The administration has been highlighting new industrial projects as evidence of improved investment climate and infrastructure readiness.

Vision for ‘Rangla Punjab’

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to reviving Punjab’s economic vibrancy, Mann said initiatives combining industry growth, agricultural support and job creation are central to the vision of rebuilding a prosperous and dynamic “Rangla Punjab.”

Wider Economic Significance

Industry observers say large agro-industrial facilities can play a crucial role in strengthening value chains, promoting technology adoption and boosting exports. Such investments are often seen as catalysts for regional development by stimulating ancillary industries and local enterprise.

Further operational details about production capacity and distribution networks are expected to be released by company officials in the coming weeks.
