CM Yogi Adityanath: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a major GST reform as a Diwali gift to every citizen of the country. Essential items such as educational materials for students, milk, curd, ghee, paneer, and other food products have been granted significant tax relief, while luxury and addictive goods will attract higher taxes. To encourage youth aspirations, GST has also been eased on bikes, cars, homes, steel, and cement. The GST Council made this announcement on September 3, with the reforms coming into effect nationwide from September 22. On Vijayadashami, villages, towns, and districts across India will symbolically burn effigies of sin, oppression, corruption, injustice, and addiction.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted these reforms while flagging off the Namo Youth Run at his residence on Sunday as part of the Nasha-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India campaign). The marathon began at Kalidas Marg and concluded at 1090 Crossing, where CM Yogi raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai to energize the youth.

CM Yogi added that Uttar Pradesh has embraced this vision through the ‘Viksit Bharat–Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ campaign

Linking the event with Yuva Shakti Seva Pakhwada, the CM said that PM Modi had earlier urged citizens to take a pledge for a “Developed India” during Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with the vision of Panch Pran. These include eliminating remnants of colonialism, honoring cultural heritage, respecting armed forces, working toward social equality, and fulfilling civic duties with integrity. CM Yogi added that Uttar Pradesh has embraced this vision through the ‘Viksit Bharat–Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ campaign, which is receiving immense support from youth, farmers, workers, traders, and intellectuals.

He emphasized that self-reliance is the key to progress and a healthy society, and initiatives like Namo Youth Run give new direction to the nation. Since 2014, PM Modi has accelerated campaigns linked to youth and wellness, including International Yoga Day, Khelo India, Fit India Movement, and Sansad Sports Competitions. Through Mission Rozgar, employment opportunities have also been ensured for the youth. Today, the same youth power is joining hands under Yuva Shakti Seva Pakhwada through the Namo Marathon.
