After PM Modi’s aerial survey, Centre announces Rs 1,000 cr for Cyclone-hit Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial aid of Rs 1,000 to Cyclone Tauktae hit Gujarat and has ordered to carry out immediate relief work in the affected parts.

The announcement came after PM Modi’s aerial survey to hard hit Gujarat and Diu by Cyclone Tauktae.
He has also announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of bereaved in the cyclone, while Rs 50,000 have been announced for people who were severly injured in the cyclone.

“Undertook an aerial survey over parts of Gujarat and Diu to assess the situation in the wake of Cyclone Tauktae. Central Government is working closely with all the states affected by the cyclone,” the Prime Minister said.

“Ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to Cyclone Tauktae in all the affected states. ₹ 50,000 would be given to the injured. GOI is in full solidarity with those affected and will provide them all possible support,” he added.

The Prime Minister also chaired a meeting with other officials to review the situation and it was decided that the financial assistance will be extended after an inter-ministerial team visits the state to assess the scale of damage, said a government release.

In the meeting, PM Modi also took stock of the Covid-19 situation in the state and assured all the assistance from the Centre.

Gujarat and Diu was hit by Cyclone Tauktae on Monday evening.
